THE MASTER’S EXPECTATION OF THE STEWARD. Matthew 24:45-51

INTRODUCTION: The primary aim of a steward is to be found faithful by his master. Every good steward
serves the purpose of their master. By implication, for a steward to do his master’s will, he needs to know the
purpose of his/her master. Based on the infallibility of the truths above, let us find out what the master requires
of the servant.

MEMORY VERSES Matthew 24:46

Discuss the following study questions.

(a) State the specific task handed to the servant (v45b). in which way(s) does this relate to you as a faithful steward of the gospel of Jesus Christ?

(b)What are the two (2) kinds of servants described in the passage (v45 and 48)? Briefly describe how each one of them went about their duties.

(c) What are we told in v50 about the time of the master’s return? How did this influence the behaviour of the servants?

What did the master expect of the steward on his return (v45-46)?

(d)How would it affect your schedule if you knew Jesus Christ was returning this week? What will it show about your readiness for the return of Jesus Christ? (v47 and v51)

(e) What will be your reward? (v47 or v51)

(f) What are the consequences of being an unfaithful steward?

CONCLUSION:

Although the time of his return is not known, the master expects the servant to do the task
assigned with all seriousness and obtain profit. Your obtained profit is your fruitfulness. Search your
individual life to see if there are tangible profits or fruitfulness. The LORD is coming!
